Birba

Spanish inspired wine bar blends a funky mix of found objects and old world tile.

This neighborhood bar  is just the right balance of simplicity, character and funk. We worked with Angie the owner to conceptually blend the things about her life she wanted to incorporate and the aspects of the space she inherited. Angie grew up on a boat and when I walked into the space, the first thing I said was,” well this feels like we are on a boat so let’s embrace it!” Those coincidences paved the way for the concept to be  totally authentic to her and for the space to be somewhere the neighborhood has continued to love and enjoy. The modern accent lighting was pulled from a friend’s garage, the bench seating we found at a flea market, the tile was her splurge and the wooden shelving was all made by a local artist she found through some friends. Birba is a place where friends matter, and locals can mingle. The wine is delicious and the tinder dates flow freely.
